THE DREAM WEAVER - Diane Nasr

Ceramicist and sculptor Diane Nasr works in organic forms, weaving and challenging traditional boundaries with great patience, and a partnership with time more reminiscent of her native island of Trinidad. Her personal charm stems from a magical vision of everyday life. In her own words "consciousness of the everyday act of making is a prayer to the maker".

Diane integrates the inquisitiveness of a child, the integrity of a scientist and the persistence of Sisyphus into her art. She renders in fine, exquisite detail that makes the impossible possible. When a collection of pieces once collapsed in on one another in a kiln firing, a movement of unseen forces emerged in the resulting 'community' of pots. The originality and vision borne of many such chances or circumstances have earned Diane the rapt attention of her peers and her critics, who have come to regard Diane not only as a magician of pots, but the most magical of all!

She is captured in the simple act of discovering yet another miracle, in awe of what the universe has provided, whether opening a kiln or simply gazing upon a flower.

Now I walk in beauty,
Beauty is before me,
Beauty is behind me.
Above and below me.
