CATALYTIC CREATOR - Danny Grossman

Described as the benevolent Toronto dance beacon, Danny Grossman is the consummate performer, in life and on stage. Having performed extensively with the famous Paul Taylor Dance Company of New York City, USA, he founded his own Canadian dance company in 1977.

A visionary leader of the dance troupe fondly described as 'an organic anarchy', Grossman's works are evocative and controversial. Skilfully addressing personal and social transformation, he challenges his audiences to shift their boundaries while nourishing their souls. He credits his dancers with elevating his choreography beyond the point of creation to its highest level.

As his atypical style has redefined modern dance, Grossman generously lends his original choreography and compositions to dance companies and universities around the world. His swan song will be the wide recognition of an untouchable form of expression - one that could only be known as The Grossman Technique.

A willing and gregarious Arkangel model, Danny posed at length for his initial portrait. Captured with arms in ballet first position, his body is purposely akimbo, evocative of the maniacal mime associated with his original choreographic works.

If the author had said
"let us put on appropriate galoshes"
there would have been no poem.
